It looks like it came from the bottom up, and after reading the story, sounds possible. Ouch.

My sister-in-law just looked over my shoulder and almost puked.

I second that , I was actually in the middle of eating when I clicked the link, and all I did was enlarged the screen.....While that must be agonizing it all goes back to the discussion over the past few days of, why not just raise and lower the shotgun unloaded?

Obviously violated the first rule of safe firearms handling,

"Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction".

I think this is the one that was in our paper. Pulling up a loaded gun into a tree stand. Hey bub, how did that work out ?

That guys problems ain't over yet. Looks like there's a possibility he could lose that second toe (looks like he scrambled the 2nd metatarsal). And there's a good chance major infection could set it. Hope he's not diabetic. In any event, he's going to need some Oxycontin to get through the next week or so.

Wow! That is a terrible way to learn a lesson. I had a friend shoot himself through the hand field stripping a gun he thought was empty. He lost some feeling and movement in his hand with less damage than your poor friend.
