    My goodness, male turkeys are such awkward and ugly creatures. The tail feathers look pretty, but other than that. To think Ben Franklin wanted that to be our national bird - well I guess looking at the country today it wouldn't be that far off.
    There is an interesting story as to why Franklin wanted the turkey.

    Common Snapper. Not like the high class snapper at the casino.
    That's hillarious!
    I guessed it to be a snapper too. I haven't seen one quite that heavy, though. Also, I thought snappers had more of a beak. The way I figured it, snapper or no, that's a really big turtle mouth and I don't want to learn how to type with a wooden finger.

    I wonder how far snapping turtles travel for food and love? The one I posted was a good distance from the creek and way uphill.
    Not sure. From where he was on the dam, he was midway on the 400' from the creek to lake. A few minutes after I took that and walked away, he was already in the water and we could see a trail of bubbles where he was.
