Pilot Survival Knife?

I received this knife from the wife of a former F4 pilot who flew off carriers in Vietnam. It is still very sharp and carries few identifiers, shown in the photos.

Am I way off?

From my understanding, a lot of people who served there did a lot of modifications to various weapons, including even carrying their own personal firearms into combat, in order to feel more comfortable, or effective, in combat.
