    LOL!

Well, can't say I blame you.

I used to live in South Bend many moons ago.... nice little neighborhood on the south side on Erskine Boulevard. I believe the neighborhood started with a bunch of management folks out of Studebaker. We lived in the "newer" section from the 1940s.

We went back a few years ago after having been away for 15-20 years.... sad to see it isn't what it used to be.

Always loved to play Erskine Golf Course.... looks like it is still doing well.

We did get over to grab dinner at Doc Pierce's that day.... it was still good.

I'm on the west side of Mishawaka, not that far from where you lived. I have a few buddies that live just south of Studebaker Golf Course. It's still a fairly nice neighborhood, but the slums are getting closer.

    Doc P's is always good!!

Nope. Mishiana is Mishawaka and the rest of northern Indiana/SW Michigan, minus South Bend. We don't want to be linked to South Bend any more.

As one who grew up in "Old Michiana" on the "Michi" side...while I do not like the relegating of the Great Penninsulas to footnote status, I understand your reasoning and therefore:

Yep... used to walk down there just to get a quick round in.

We have some fond memories of the old neighborhood.

They used to do a "candlelight walk" night around Christmas time each year. All of Erskine Blvd would be lined and light with luminaries. Neighbors took care of getting the luminaries out for folks who were out of town or not in good health to do it. Lots of Christmas carolers going through the neighborhood, open houses, fire pits.... when we moved away they had gotten to the point that Santa would ride down the street in a horse drawn carriage. Those were some good times with some damn fine people!
