We have a handful of friends that want to get together and canoe or kayak for a day. We always went to Blues canoes down in Edinburgh but now that we have moved to Carthage, we're wondering if there were any outfitters somewhere between greenwood and carthage? Or somewhere closer than Edinburgh anyway.

    Any suggestions?

Well, it looks to be about the same distance as Edinburgh, but there are some rentals in Noblesville on the White River.

Half of the parties are from the southside of indy so I was hoping to find something within same driving distance from them but a little closer to us. It appears that I am up a creek as far as that is concerned. Gah. I guess we will be driving some distance on saturday.

Yeah but we need a rental place for kayaks/canoes. That's the problem.

I'll tell you what I did, I got an old semi truck tire inner tube (maybe hard to find now, I don't know) I stuck a large wash tub in the center of it and a wide board across the top and tied it to the handles, stuck a piece of old carpet in the bottom to quite things down and bought a small paddle.
Go upstream a short ways to try it out and have your wife drive back to Carthage.
You might just be surprised how much fun you can have, but be careful and take your phone with you in a water proof float-able case.

you know.... most people living out here have boats for themselves AND guests....

With that in mind, I think this sunday we are doing an 8 hour float if you want to come.... I have an extra kayak if you need..... and if two want to go I can put you in a canoe.

Clement's Canoes, at Deer Mill covered bridge.

I haven't been there for a few years, but I think it's still owned by the same couple that has ran the business for about 20 years.

They have canoes, kayaks, and they'll transport you either for drop off or pickup.

About an hour drive from Indy, maybe a little more from your side of town.
