polishing a blued slide/barrel

I have a blued slide/barrel with the bluing going bad. It is fine on the rest of the gun. I'd like to polish the slide/barrel. I've polished several different things in the past, but never a gun. I have looked at a couple of youtubes where people polished slides. I'm open for comments and advice from anyone with experience.

Wouldn't it cause the gun to rust?

Here's a before and after picture of a CZ that a member did. I want to do the same thing. Just wondering if there are any caveats. I've PM'd the member who polished this gun.

EDIT: Well, I was wrong, the slide in this picture is the stainless Duracoat .... so, glad I PM'd him!
