    There is no "the weight." There are, depending on the components and gun used, a range of start to max loads from various sources. It is safest to always start with the lowest starting load you can find.
    You may want to purchase a couple of reloading manuals.
    Note that HP38 is the EXACT same powder as 231.
    Next, the .40S&W is not a cartridge to mess around with and caution is even more important, in my opinion and experience.
    Here is my compilation of data. Note that there is a start load from one source that is well over the max load from a couple of other sources. Start with the 4.7-5.0gn load and work up carefully.
