I recently took this '50's era Ruger .22 pistol in on trade. It is NOT indicative of how I treat my guns. It works and fires just fine.

My idea was to use it to teach my kid about guns and for plinking.....but actually I would feel better if it went to a collector or somebody that will properly take care of it. I wouldn't think that would include general plinking for something this old and possibly collectible. Any idea what it might be worth? I don't have a bluebook or know how to properly ascertain it's value. Thanks.

At Christmas my Dad gave my boy one of these. His is a red eagle. It doesn't have the rust on it tho. The bluing is pretty thin. He loves to plink with it. I say shoot the crap out of it.

Shoot the doo-doo out of it, keep it for a glove box, tackle box gun. You could look into how much it would be to re-finish it. If it was $150 or less, it may be worth it and you would have an awesome looking, cheap Ruger!

My wife's favorite gun is her Pre-Mark I. It has some wear but it's still shiny. We shoot it quite a bit. Hers is old enough that it usually doesn't take a hammer to tear it down.

I take it to the range when I'm too lazy to get my S&W 41 out of the box.
