A dear friend of mine has a new-born grandson in the NICU in Fort Wayne. The baby's name is Takoda. He was born 9 weeks too early. His mother lost a baby to SIDS three years ago, and has miscarried twice before Takoda was born, so she is just an emotional wreck, too. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. And, if anyone is so inclined, donations of all kinds can be made to the Fort Wayne Salvation Army NICU Assistance program in his name. Healing energies and positive thoughts are welcomed, too, if you're not the praying type. Thank you!

My son was six weeks early at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Best place in the world to have him. They have the best nurses and doctors working that NICU.

Sorry to hijack the thread but those who have preemies or know those who do, please have their eyes tested.

We never gave it a thought and my daughter was in first grade when they did a basic read the letter eye check for all students. They recommended we take her for an exam and her vision is pretty bad. Evidently this is very common for preemies and we never knew a thing about it. A young child doesn't know to tell you either.
