Ok, so I'm going to start a goals thread if you want to join in do so, if you don't don't. Yes posting DETAILS of what you have and are doing online might not be some peoples bag, so let's keep it high level.

The goal is to provide motivation and accountability for what people want to do, as well as providing others with ideas of what they might want to do.

    RULES:

    • Please NO DISCUSSION until after 1/16/2013.
      • Please only post one time with your goals and timelines.
      • This will give everyone 2 weeks to create an initial post.
      • If you want to make changes/updates/etc only edit your initial post.
    • on 1/17/2013 discussion will be open for any/all feedback
    • after 1/17/2013 please make changes/updates to your original post so we don't need to dig through pages of comments for updates.

My goals this year mostly revolve around training and skill building. I'll start with the classes I am planning on taking, I'm using semi-generic names and don't know exactly who I'll be taking them from but I'm sure most of you get the idea:

    Classes:

    • [STRIKE]Intermediate Pistol class[/STRIKE] Completed
    • Defensive Pistol 1
    • Defensive Pistol 2
    • Attend a full Appleseed (I've done two 1 days, but never the whole thing...)
    • Tactical/Defensive Carbine/Rifle
    • Tactical/Defensive Carbine/Rifle 2
    • HAM radio class
    • CPR Class
    • First Aid Class
    • 10 minute medicine or Redneck Medicine class
    • Patriot Nurses medical class Scheduled
Some skills I want to build:

    • Build several types of animal traps
      • Figure 4, Snare, Twitch Up, ???
    • Build fires several different ways
      • Matches + Tinder, Matches no tinder, Fero Rod + Tinder, Fero Rod no tinder
    • Build a single person shelter
    • Build a single person shelter and spend the night in it
    • Build a multi person shelter
    • Purify water:
      • With Iodine tablets, with Polar pure, Solar still, Boil on camp fire
    • Develop a specialized .308 load
    • Develop a specialized .223 load
    • Shoot out to at least 500 yards
    • Identify 12 local edible plants, and eat them!

    1. Insert plant found and eaten #2 Insert #3 Insert #4 Insert #5 Insert #6 Insert #7 Insert #8 Insert #9 Insert #10 Insert #11 Insert #12 Insert
    • Go to 90 Krav Maga classes
      • Pass 1st level test
      • Pass 2nd level test
    • Spend at least 2 hours a week practicing dry fire, reload, drawing, etc.
    Some physical goals:

    • be able to touch my toes
    • run a sub 21:00 5k

I feel like this list is a lot, but at the same time it isn't. I think my biggest barrier will be getting into all the classes with conflicting schedules.

What is everyone else going to do?

    further devolop my network
Teach some medical classes. I was a medic in the army, plus a Firefighter EMT in alaska and was on the dept wilderness rescue team. from talking to people around here it seems there is a general lack of proper training. as such i am also not going to be a backroom medical instructor, looking to get my certifications so it is official.
Also looking to do alot of whats on your list but for the sake of saving space i wont repost what you have already posted.

Our goal for this year is to rebuild.
Last year we had a house fire and lost all of our preps.

    1. Beef up water supply.

    2. Medical supplies need more surgical equipment.

    3. Food supply needs more seeds.

    4. Can more.

    5. Hunt more.

    6. Continue weapons training for the wife and kids.

    7. Get the local MAG going.

    8. Long range communications.

One down, many more to go.

Behind on Krav classes, hopefully I'll be able to get back to it in another week or so. (waiting for surgery to heal)
