    your 1950's 336 waffle top appears to be a 336 SC or sporting carbine. 2/3 tube length gives that away.
    it is missing a front sight cover which are hard to find but Are available. The RC or regular carbine are far more common. It is also old enough to have the perch belly forearm.

    It does have the groove for a hood. I'll have to keep an eye out for one.

    If you ever want to sell the 1893, let me know...

    Not being one who gets rid of many I'll probably keep it forever. I slugged the bore as older 38-55's can vary in bore diameter which affects accuracy. It slugs at .380 and has been shot with CNC and HSM ammo and I desire more accuracy. Those loads probably have .377 bullets. I have different size cast bullets, Starline brass and the RCBS cowboy dies but have not had the time to work up a load yet.
