I'm possibly thinking of getting one at tax time. I'm looking at the varmint model in .223. I got quoted $549 at a local shop. Has anyone seen them cheaper around Indiana?
I picked one up in .270 caliber for $285 in a pawn shop, still had cosmoline on the bolt. Don't forget to look in places like that, especially if you are on a budget.
If you are speaking of the Remington 700 SPS Varmint with 26" blue barrel and black synthetic stock it would be $527.95 + tax. So that's $564.91 out the door.
My distributor has 2 in stock. How many would you like?
Dick's has them in the SPS Varmint combo with a Remington (Tasco) 4-12x40 scope, with cheap weaver style rings and bases in their flyer on sale for $449. I was looking at them a year ago and ended up getting a Savage Stevens 200 .223 for a coyote gun I could beat up and not cry about.
.223 not much better because ammo is so cheap the guns are more in demand. 24 Hour Campfire classifieds commonly sees Remington 700's sell for between $275-$375 shipped depending on condition (good to very good) in larger centerfire rounds.
I got a rem 700 sps-v in .308 from dicks for 440 out the door, Remington runs specials and they were marked down because Remington was changing the stock from green to black.
im definitely diggin the sps varmiter, im kinna looking at the weatherby vanguard varmiter base model too, its around 550 also.. the actions on the weatherby's are smooth as silk, i think they use howa 1500 actions in their vanguard's.
