Let's see how many we can recall. Let's not limit to only those who played but maybe did not play but were(are) in some managerial or coaching position. Let's try and keep it to those born and raised as a Hoosier. List the name, where born, sport participated in, high school and professional sport played. Also, list any other pertinent info on their professional career.
I'll it off with a few.
Darrel Chaney born in Hammond and a Morton grad. He played pro baseball for the reds and braves. Got a World Series ring while a member of the big red machine in '75. Was a braves broadcaster for awhile until ted turner set him up in real estate.
Ron kittle born in Gary and a wirt grad. Played for chi sox and named rookie of the year in 1983. He went on to play for the Yankees, Cleveland and Baltimore. He kinda was a Dave kingman in that, he either struck out or blasted a homer out of the park. I believe he was from the miller section of Gary.
