My old 600 Mohawk in .243 win popped up for sale.
    Snagged it.
Dumped my 99....decent rifle, but not into lever guns.......might have stated such previously ;)
Do like the .300 Savage cartridge.

So figured rebarrel this little Mohawk into .300 Sav
Got a Rem 720 series take off bbl coming.

Will need it cut to 20-21" (drill for new front sight screws) and swapped onto the action.

    Looking for recommendations.

Of course the .243 win bbl puts 'em into 3/4"
    Nice shooter.
    18.5" is a bit loud.
    I have a 22" ADL in .243win for yotes.
    And a #1RSI for deer.
    Don't need a 3rd .243 win.
Figure .300 Savage cool, will drop into Boyds stock and put a 2-7X Leupold on it.

Tagged for interest! Sounds like a cool project. I am interested in how the sights are going to be done. If the front and rear sights are installed on the barrel I would think the job should be pretty straight forward for a good smith.

    Please post updates!

There are several folks on here who should be able to do a rebarrel job.
Maybe you should post another thread with the title directly requesting suggestions for someone who can do the rebarrel.

    Easy enough job....

I did a rebarrel on a Mauser for a friend of mine. He went with 300 win mag. Hardest part was getting the old barrel off. Seriously. Once I bought some super sticky rosin from McMaster, and added an extension to my receiver wrench, it popped right off. Cleaned up the threads, blue printed/trued the action and bolt, set the headspace, took it out, and it shoots like a champ.

interesting project , personally I like .243 a very flat shooting round, know for accuracy , that being said, 300 savage is a neat round and will take down a lot of north American game,

so, what kinda barrel did you get? pre chambered? .......

Bbl is from an old 722.
Appears decent, but will let the rifle builder make the call.

Might need minor setback to time it.
Dunno, that's for them to figure out.

Will go ahead and steal the front sight (single screw) off the .300 Sav bbl and slap it on the 600 for now (help the looks).
.300 sav bbl is 24". I want the project rig to be about 20.5"
