So 15 years ago the legislature conspired to pass a gotcha tax reform, the duped citizens passed a constitutional amendment, to convince the duped public they lowered taxes for many in 2009-2011, then put the screws to the people because they knew the feds were going to devalue the dollar in the early 2020’s. Got it…
Yes, just like they've been conspiring for over a hundred years to destroy this country whether they knew it or not.

For the record, they never said your tax payment would not rise. They capped the tax rate, and have not even suggested tinkering with it that I have seen in the past 15 years…
They don’t need to when you can cook up a new assessment formula that will give you all the dollars you could ever ask for.

The assessment formula is pretty set, they have tinkered around the edges but little has changed since it passed. And they are passing so an appraisal is the authority of value in disputes.

Maybe your ire should be directed to the feds that devalued your dollars not a reasonable tax system if we must have one…

Its by far one of the fairest property taxes I know of. I mean, if you want to pay $1000 per MONTH for property taxes on a $350k house be my guest.

People shouldn't have to pay property tax on their primary residence, especially after retirement age.

People work their whole lives to pay off a home they like, and then they can't retire and enjoy it because they get taxed to death and driven out to finish their lives in a little cracker box place they hate.

Taxation is theft. But I’m glad I recently moved the family back to Indiana. Texas property taxes are horrible. Even with this year’s increase its about a 1/4 of my Texas tax bill.

My assessed value this year increased more than 50% from the year prior. If we're talking caps, we should probably have one that limits yoy increases as well. Over 50% in a year is absolutely ridiculous. This follows yearly increases of ~10% in the several years prior. So in the 6.5 years since I bought this place, my assessed value, and taxes, have more than doubled.

file an appeal if its not correct. You have that opportunity. But if it's accurate than I don't see the issue. You've been underpaying for years then.

I was very likely underpaying, but the advantageous tax assessment was a specific consideration I made when making the purchase. There should be a cap on you percentage increases just as there is on the tax levied.

It is actually retarded for real estate brokerages and marketing to even present the current property taxes. They are irrelevant to the buyer, the buyers taxes are to be expected at 1% of their purchase price.

When the socialists completely take over they will cap your property taxes by capping your gain on the property. :lmfao:

So you bought it KNOWING it should increase then complain because it increased? Am I understanding you correctly?
No, I bought it looking at years of tax history, noticing that it's assessment was below market value for years. Normal people would expect that would continue.

My Property tax increased 17% over last year. At the current dollar annual increase it will be double the yearly dollar Amount in just under 6 years.

It's what rational people would expect.
Rational people would look at that and think "they're going to catch on to this at some point and we're gonna be screwed" they don't think they can keep cheating "the man" forever because that don't happen.

but I guess it's easier to blame everyone else and whine about it instead of taking responsibility that you knew it should go up.

Rational people would look at years of precedent and think that this county does assessments a certain way. Rational people would expect that a years long trend would continue.

Maybe if you enjoy talking down to others and generally being rude, an internet forum isn't the place for you.
