This reminds of one of my favorite stories from my gym in Alameda, CA. This happened in the late 1989 or 1990.
One of the guys in the gym was famous for his "habits" involving the use and marketing of controlled substances. One day he came running into the gym, almost hysterical because he had seen a giant walking around town. There was a payphone near the front door and he called the police to report the giant who had terrified him.
What really happened: Manut Bol, who is 7' 7" tall and was playing for the Golden State Warriors at the time, was living in town. He was out for a walk, just minding his own business when a drug-crazed wannabe bodybuilder called the police to report that a giant was menacing the peaceful citizens of Alameda.
Much laughter ensued at the panic.
