I had a great puma white hunter that got destroyed in a house fire about 10 years ago. The knife was from the 70s and was perhaps the best knife I have owned. Does anyone have any experience with the newer production Pumas? I would love to buy one, but in curious if they are the same quality they have always been

Don't know about the newer ones but you are right, the old ones are fine. Wife's dad carried this one in Vietnam. The blade hasn't been touched since he got home, it was used for many rough chores, even digging!

I have an old one, bought in 1972; and just bought one of the $470 dollar new ones for my grandson. Outwardly, I can't tell the difference in the two knives. As for performance, only time will tell.
