I have a good friend who is currently stationed at Ft. Riley. He wants to buy a suppressor. Can he buy one in Indiana? It is home ofresidence and he still has an Indiana driver’s license. Could he buy one inKansas? Once he left Kansas would he need to get his tax stamp changed?
Also,he wants a Silencer Co. Osprey where in Indiana can he find one?
    Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

Yes if he still has an IN ID he can buy one in Indiana.

Can he buy one in Kansas - Yes he would then need it transfered to an IN dealer. (unless MIlitary ID somehow gets around this??)

He wouldn't need to change it since it will be an IN transfer...

Also I'm guessing he is 21, since it's through a dealer....

Silencer CO has some LONG waits, so if the dealer doesn't have one it maybe a long time before one is transfered. At least they did. There are a few dealers here on INGO that had them at one point.

For a 4473 a military ID is fine if you have orders in the state you are purchasing, I would assume that NFA items are the same, but someone who knows more will have to verify that. He could of course buy it in Indiana as well.

When he is back in Indiana he will have to change his information with the ATF.

Even if he could buy in Kansas, does he know if he will be there in 6-9 months when the stamp comes back? Or would it be better to just buy it in IN and then he can get it when he returns?

That is a good point, if he doesn't know for sure that he will be there for at least a year, he should probably do it in Indiana. What about CLEO sign off? I assume he lives off base, but who knows how the local politics are.
