I have changed 3 sets on XDM pistols in 9 and 40.

I have a good machinist vise(more expensive than the gun), a little hammer and a brass drifting punch.

Taped the slide, locked in the vise then carefully drift it out. Never left a mark.

which goes back to my first post. They can be drifted out but its not easy and there is a big risk of doing damage unless you have good tools

What about putting a set of night sights back in. Like a set at TFO sights with the tritium capsule.
Would you also recommend drifting them back in as well?

Most aftermarket sights I have done are not near as tight as the factory ones so it can be done but you would want to fit them a bit then add locktite rather then driving them in hard and breaking the tritium vial

No experience with Tritium sights, but XS, Firesights and a Burris FF3 red dot base, all done with a Panavise and small spacer modified from a brass bolt.

that's correct. I "squeeze" them in rather than tap with a hammer when install new sights.
