Hello, greetings from OH. I was wondering if anybody could give me a brief answer on myself (an Ohio resident) wanting to buy a handgun from Indiana. Would I have to get the gun transfered to a FFL in Ohio? I thought I read somewhere that neighboring states were allowed to sell guns? Thanks in advanced.

    Somewhere else
You can, I believe, buy a long gun from a dealer, face to face, in a surrounding state. A handgun would have to be sent to an FFL in your state.

As far as I know all handguns that go out of state must be transferred to FFL. I know that I, as a IN resident, can go to MI or Ky and buy a long gun. Not sure if the same would apply for you and long gun though. However, your question was on a hand gun and as stated, FFL.

    ok

Thanks for the quick responses, it backs up what I've come across also. Private firearm sales can't be covered under this law, correct?

Long guns are ok under the law in a private sale, handguns, to another state, by law have to be transfered by/to a FFL. Even in a private sale. Later, Bob
