I always sell my stuff via armslist. In person transactions only in daylight at a semi public place like a Walmart parking lot, where its private enough to conduct your business but enough people are around to discourage foolishness. An FFL will do a transfer for you if you don't feel comfortable meeting someone on your own, a good one will charge $20-$25 to do this for you.

Check with you local gun store to be sure they will run the background check for you and what the fee is. Shoot Point Blank in Crown Point refused to do this. I am a member there and was going to use them for a private sale because one transfer per month was included with my membership. They would not do it.
