Calibers Tested: .22lr (rifle & pistol), 9mm HP, 9mm Ball, .38 HP
Media: Randomly Selected Cantaloupes on sale at Krogers
Testers: Me & The Boy
Weather Conditions: Mild
Testing Gear:
1. Mossberg Plinkster with Federal .22lr HP
2. Walther P22 with CCI .22lr HP
3. KelTec PF9 with 9mm HP (Federal) and 9mm Ball
4. S&W Model 15 with .38 Special HP (Critical Defense)
Results as follows...
1. Mossberg Plinkster with Federal .22lr HP (Longest Video):

Result: .22lr is vicious on melons and definitely not a plaything. Those holes are really dang impressive. Additionally, I am happy to see the boy working on his first hit Zombie skills. Now, let's see how a short barrel P22 holds up with the same basic ammo.
2. Walther P22 with CCI .22lr HP
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH8nxHaquHA]YouTube - P22 vs Cantaloupe[/ame]
Result: The .22lr HP still does quite the number on the melons. Very nice!
3. KelTec PF9 with 9mm HP (Federal) (WARNING - Duck the Cantaloupe Goop!)
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IOiZ6V-j28]YouTube - Cantaloupe Explosions: 9mm HP Test[/ame]
Result: BOOM! Would have been better had it not splattered the camera, but still - wow! Makes you feel better about the dinky 9mm.
4. S&W Model 15 with .38 Special HP (Critical Defense)
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0V-KrbA38o]YouTube - .38 Special vs. Cantaloupe[/ame]
Results: Ummm... underimpressive. Really had hoped for results more like the 9mm. Obviously it is far less. Grumble.
5. KelTec PF9 with 9mm Ball (Will it beat out the .38 HP?)
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXMugRvw9Cs]YouTube - 9mm FMJ vs. Cantaloupe[/ame]
Results: Interesting that the 9mm ball outperforms the .38 special HP. I should also note that the 9mm point of aim shifted greatly between the HP and the ball in a way that my Glock 26 does not do. That will be the subject of more testing.
Conclusions:
We had a ball and the camera might never be the same. The boy had a great time and was pleased with himself since the whole thing was a last minute idea of his. We ran out of camera time to record shooting some water bottles, but let me say there is more than one way to wash off a bipod:
