Yup. I did an abbreviated journey compared to Doddg, but I bought and sold quite a few several years ago "fine tuning" my firearms.

I have settled on the Shield and that is where I will stay.

I have weird philosophies. When the Shield came out it was a great pistol that did most everything very well. Fast forward a few years with new stuff coming out and people get the attitude that now the Shield falls short.

I think the Shield is still today what it was back then. New stuff coming out doesn't negate the features and benefits of the previous.

    Like I said, I'm weird.
True about that doddg guy! :lmfao:
The Shield was my 1st "favorite" CC & I kept for the longest I'd done so up to that time (less than a year).
Probably had 4-5 Shield variations over past 4+ yrs
    &
have come full circle now having the Shield PPC now.
I had a perfectly wonderful Shield Plus right before it but couldn't resist getting the PC for an extra $50. :dunno:

In checking the comparison chart (HandgunHero), they are same height & length, just a hair wider.
Like you, I don't intend to get anything else, but noone is going to believe that. :)

I too have ran through many small 9's in search for the best for me, but I have always kept my original Shield 1st gen that I purchased here. It has a few Apex inhancements and I shoot it as well as any.

Today I plan to make a quick trip to Martinsville to shoot my latest aquired Sig p365 XL. I think a little longer sight plane and full fingerd grip might help me close up my grouping which might be an eight inch circle on a good day at 20ft. I am OLD, bad eyes, bad hands but still try to practice as often as possible, mostly with the Shield.

I sold my first Shield, a gen 1. I was almost immediately sorry I did so I went and bought a 2.0. Worked out in the end as the 2.0 didn't have the safety like my gen 1 did so that was an improvement for me.

The Plus I bought was really an impulse buy. I got caught up in having the extra rounds. It's fine but I still prefer my 2.0. I do like the slightly wider grip on the Plus model though. Made the one minor nitpik I had on the originals go away.

Just back from the range trip with the sig p365. It ran flawless with 100 round of mixed brands and various loads. But I got caught up in the extra rounds and this was an impulse buy, it really is not that much different than my gen 1 shield. Think I will put Talon grip tape on the old Shield and call it good.

Today, I got out the 11.7 oz SW 360 PD .357 Titanium cylinder
    &
    Ruger LCR .38.

At only 15' using .38 sp & .38 sp +P. in both revolvers.
    Ruger did OK with torso
    but,
windage was off a couple of inches.
You can see where I struggled with the SW 360 PD head shots,
getting only 2 rds decent & the other 3 not so good.
    Everything shot free hand.
Ironically, the practice target rounds on a rest were no better.
    Range 01.21.2022 SW 360 PD & Ruger LCR .38.jpg

    Comparing size of both revolvers.
360 PD lighter, has hammer & optic front sight (which I really like).
I bought these SW grips with room for the pinky finger, which came OEM on the 360 some years.
Plan to sell the more expensive SW 360 PD, since I don't need both.

Been waiting to pick up another Kahr CM9 since last August when I realized my mistake of selling the small CM9 I had.
I sold it to someone who was buying multiple 9mms from me when I trimmed my
    "range 9mm."
Couldn't find another CM9 at the time so replaced it with a CW9.
I discovered I "needed" the smallest Kahr for some occasions.
I'll sell the CW9 when I get around to it.

Range targets were at only 15' on 3.5" circles.
Some on a rest, some free hand & even a one hander in the mix.
I would have done a few rounds at 21' but didn't want to use anymore of my limited 9mm supply.
I was just using reloads initially & it performed flawlessly.

    Size comparison between CM9 & CW9:

Ruger LCR 38 DAO & the Kimber 6s 357 magnum today at the range.
Kimber beat out the LCR only by 80% compared to 72%.
I was fairly anemic in accuracy b/c yours truly has not been shooting the 38/357 ammo except for the occasional function check. :dunno:

I used .357 reloads from B.K. Bullet Castings Custom Reloads from Peru, IN.
    &
.38 special reloads as well from the same.

Revolver day today x 88 rds:
    - Kimber 6s .357 DAO
    - Taurus 856 .38 sp DA/SA (today only shot DAO)
    - Ruger LCR 38 sp DAO

    Circles 9 +10 + X = 3.75"

Thank you for more proof to what we all know. Taurus is a better manufacturer than Kimber
    Really!?
That's what you came away with? :lmfao:
Even I, who come up with multiple excuses for my flyers, never thought about blaming the manufacturer, haha!
I think it's more of a reflection of my anemic shooting ability with
    .357 magnum than .38 special loads. :ugh::draw:
As far as the brands go, good luck with that argument. :nono:

Top left are handloads, 115 gr hollow points, fairly spicy.

The 124 gr gold dots had noticeably more recoil.

Bottom left are a really sweet Magtech 95 grain JSP. Low recoil and accurate. Also tears up water jugs nicely.

Bottom right is normal 115 FMJ S&B. Best group of the day.

I have Kahr PM9 and its still one my favorites....I have had it 10+ years and its completely reliable....Don't carry it nearly as often anymore but glad to know I can switch off every once in a while if I feel the need to...Great summer pocket carry...

I just had to have a range day with anything not .22LR or using pellets.
    Therefore, 9mm semi-autos & .38 sp. revolvers. :rockwoot:
There is a justification for each. :dunno:

    2nd Gen SW 469, 12+1 rds.
    I've had 5-6 3rd Gen SWs.
I get one, enjoy it, but end up selling it when I'm trimming-the-safe, but I can't keep away from them.
Don't need this one for a CC; this is a house gun.
POI low so I have to remember bring up the front sight.

If I would have used the bigger magazine with pinky purchase, I can tighten up the groups.

The SW MP Plus Performance Center is my utter favorite CC.
    Size, capacity (10+1 or 13+1) & accuracy all A-1.
Range 5.27.2020 SW MP Shield Plus PC 21ft.jpg

I really enjoy owning this CZ Rami!
It has been upgraded thoroughly by the CZ Wizard.
    It is a multi-purposed:
    - an accurate range gun
    - 10 or 14 rds as a CC
    - a house gun.
But, I just don't need it anymore.
I'll get in a trimming-the-safe mode & be tempted to let it go someday.

I had the CZ Wizard turn it into a SAO with other upgrades & it is the best shooter I've ever had in my hands.
Allen even put a Tungsten Cerakote finish on the frame: best looking CZ ever!!!
It is strictly a fantastic range gun, but since the days of me shooting 2-300 rounds in a 9mm range session started ending with retirement & Covid ammo prices have ended all that.
I'll sell it eventually, but not done shooting it yet: it brings such joy!

Great shooting with the Shadow! I came close to getting one earlier in the year that was optics ready. The one I was going to buy was DA/SA. By the time my 18 month interest free credit car arrived it was sold. I do like the SAO for a range gun and might buy one if CZ comes out with a SAO optics ready.

I did end up with a SIG P226. Had one and regrettably sold it last year. Also picked up an optics slide with SIG Romeo sight. Trigger in SA is not crisp like the old German P220 I once owned. Quite accurate regardless but I will see about getting the trigger improved.
