    Oy! That would have been dangerous even by 1960s standards!

    We always used carbide to make our tennis ball cannons out of pop cans (back when they were steel, not aluminum). Other kids would use hairspray or lighter fluid but the carbide worked a lot better. Sounded about like a 12 gauge shotgun going off. :)

    Gaseous acetylene >> naptha or hairspray aerosols!
