In a continuing effort to fill my head with apocalyptic junk, I have read to following recently:

    Alas, Babylon
    Lights Out
    One Second After
    Unintended Consequences
    Alongside Night

    And watched:

    The Road (major bummer)
    Red Dawn (both)
Panic in the Year Zero (saw in high school, affected my thinking ever since)

What do you folks recommend for future efforts?

I kinda liked the Colony, it was done by Discovery channel. More of a reality series but still cool what all they build in season 1

"The Dog Stars" was pretty good.
I'm in the middle of "Ashfall" right now, and it's good so far.

Also "Patriots" by James Wesley Rawles should be on your list.

From my dealings with DHS/FEMA (schooling & INTF1), the book "One Second After" is the most interesting. An "event of national significance" like an EMP, is regarded as one of the most likely things to happen via rogue nation or other source. All the previously mentioned books have many things to learn or think about. Can't go wrong reading any of those. :)

I haven’t seen anybody mention it, but the Renewal series, by JF Perkins, is amazing. The catch is you have to have a Kindle, or Kindle app, since it isn't in print. There are 10 installments, for $.99 each.

I also just read Collision Corse, and loved it too.
