Mostly an iron sight type of guy, but considering a red dot on my G-19. Question is, when shooting, do you need to do holdover, or can the sight be adjusted to point of aim/point of impact? Thanks...

Mine is set for point of aim is point of impact.

But I do not have it co-witnessing iron sights and I don’t if that makes a difference or not if choose to go that route.

I assume you are talking about offset? If so, of course, just like there is with any other sighting system where the sights sit above the bore. How much you need to take into account depends on what type of RDS it is and how you have it mounted. Honestly most people don't shoot well enough that it will noticeable at anything but the closest distance. It is not like an AR offset if that is what you are thinking.

    +1 for what cedartop said.
It's all too confusing for my old brain, so I measure how high the center of the reddit is ABOVE the bore axis.
So I know my poi is gonna be lower than my dot's poa(plus bullet drop). (That # is 1.11" on my g34 with a venom.)
    Simple, huh? Lol

If you align it so the sight and barrel are parallel, with no POA/POI zero, yes.

While the height over bore is less than rifles, it still exists so there'll be distances where POI's under, zeroed, and possibly over POA.

Yep, you explained it better than I could-sight and barrel are parallel. My poi is always under my poa on my g34. I really don't notice any bullet drop till 75yds.
I have to shoot it off bags to get that performance.

just about all Red dots are mounted under the barrel.
All sights are above the barrel.
    big difference.
I would bore sight it in LEVEL.
It would be very effective for a impulse quick shot.
    You bullet will hit target.
Who cares about a bit of difference in an emergency.
Great for night time dark shots.

I think you're confusing laser sights with red dot sights. Not the same thing.
