Hey all, have a surplus M14 stock to put my M1A in. Since I have a rear lugged receiver I had to open up the back of the stock a bit, so I need to bed that area in and fill the opening where the selector would have been in it's former life. It's also pretty crummy looking so I'd like to do a simple refinish of the stock. Am I best to hold off on the bedding until after I do the refinish or will the stock finish (stain/sealer) affect the ability of the bedding to adhere?
    Thanks.

bed then refinish. that way if you have to sand down any bedding material that goes where it doesn't belong it doesn't matter because you are refinishing it anyways.
