Those boxes you posted brought back a great memory from my childhood. I always loved looking in my grandpa's closet where he kept his guns/ammo. He had several of those yellow and red boxes. If I remember right, they had a small plastic container inside that held the ammo. Thanks for sparking that memory, kalboy!

Glad to hear that this brought you a smile!

I picked up a brick of .22 shorts in a box marked 'Sears' that was red. They were from an older gentleman that was retiring and cleaning out some stuff. Paid $20.

I just got 3 boxes of Remington primers in the old green boxes.
I don't even know if the primers themselves would still be viable, the packages look that old, and slightly weathered but in good shape, but the contents are immaculate.
Thought about posting them up for sale on Gunbroker.

I bought the top box of ammo in 1971 or 1972, for $7.00, for my bring back SKS. The bottom box was just a year ago from a gun shop in Portland. I still haven't fired the rifle but hopefully this spring.

Be careful. I had some 35 remington in similar box fail on me this year.

Bad picture but if you look close enough there is a crack that runs lengthwise that showed up after being shot.

    here is the box

    Hopefully your stuff shoots great!

I had the exact same type of case splits on some 40 year old 22 magnum ammo. Made extraction very difficult and really gunked up the chamber.

Those boxes are a little before my time but I remember when my grandfather Auto5 was passed to me, it came with 3 boxes of the old purple federals and a box of paper hulled shells. I collect them now to go in my man cave. A whole box of them got destroyed or lost in the move from PA, luckily they were just empty boxes. Here are some of the ones I have left, try to ignore the barrels and stocks I didn't want to take them all out of the display case. I will probably get back to collecting them again some day.

One time a coworker came over to my cube and said "i heard you talking about guns and stuff, could you help get rid of some old ammo". I said sure and when I got to his house he hauled out a garbage bag full of old boxes, mostly full. Here are some that I got from him. The prize of the find was the boxes of paper 16ga shells.

I gave ammo looking like these to Profire just a month ago, and also used up some Winchester 748 powder in a round tin container with a screw on cap. Even though this powder was a least 30 years old (probobly 40+), it worked perfectly. Shot in my pretty new Ruger AR-556, 55 grain FMJ. Always kept dry and at room temperature.
