I don't think I had a GI Joe, but I had Johnny West and Geronimo (and their horses).

Somehow I still have the horse.. they fought my GI Joe’s.. epic battle!
The Indian attacked my sister’s Barbies in the sandbox one day and tied her to the long Lincoln log and toasted Barbie at the stake.. I got my ass beat quite well that day

This was one of my favorite toys that I remember as a kid (60's). You could actually shoot the gun with the case closed.

My other was a 3-bit mechanical computer.

One of these turned into my favorite "hobby", and the other into my career!

Were those HO, or 1/32 or 1/24? I was thinking it was the bigger ones that had the braided contacts.
Strombecker was 1/32 scale. I did build a 1/24 car, but never attached the Cobra body to it. I also found it ran faster without front wheels, letting the tab drop deeper into the slot, so it was stable in the corners. I put oversized slicks on the back so it looked like a AA dragster. Nothing could touch it and it was big enough that it knocked other cars off the track in the turns.
