    The bolt face is the same as any "standard" 22-250/243/260/7-08/308/338 Federal/358 Winchester, these short action bolts will work without modification.

    You'll need a WSM/RSAUM magazine box for the fatter cartridge and will likely need to tweak the box a bit to present the cartridge higher for the bolt to grab the recessed rim. Depending on your intended projectile, you may need to shorten the follower and install a ramp in the front of the magazine box to break the cartridges loaded with blunt projectiles upwards.

    Alternatively, an aftermarket DBM for WSM based cartridges would likely work well.


    A centerfeed Savage is a whole lot less work.

    Fireball knows what he's talking about. I didn't know that the 458 socom had the same case head as a 308. I thought it was bigger. Call AJ brown down in Bloomfield he will build you that rifle.

    If you have a Rem 700 in .308, you should think about doing the .358 Win shortened to 1.8" -- search for .358 Hoosier.
