I have a rifle, my grandfather named it the .43 Spanish. On the top of the barrel, near the hammer it says Argentino Modelo 1879. I read somewhere that it was also considered a Remington M1879. I am going to a gun range sometime soon and am trying to get ammo for all the guns I want to take and shoot. There are 35 lead tipped rounds, and am currently looking for some extra ammo for it, with no luck. Does anyone know if it is still being made :dunno: ?

Make sure it is not marked for 11mm Mann. on the top, several were converted in the 50's to shoot the 11mm mannlicher round when it was available as surplus in the 50's. it was easier to sell the rifle in a caliber that you could buy cheap ammo for, and the spanish round was scarce in the 50's, they were bringing in thousands of cases of the 11mm mannlicher at the time.
