My brother-in-law has a very old pump 22 he is looking to trade or sale to me, but he seems to think it is worth its weight in gold $500+ is there anyway possible it worth that much? Only thing I know for sure is it does not have an octagon receiver. What should I look for, or look out for?

There is a very good chance its worth that much, or right around there.

Post make and model, and a few digits of the serial number and ill look it up in the blue book.

He is supposed to drop it off tomorrow I will post them up then. The poor gun almost went to a turkey trade at X-mass, I was able to talk him out of it.

Most likely it is a rem model 12. Now is it a round barrel or octagon. Is it a short only or short and long or short long and long rifle.

Most likely it is a model 12 A.

If it shoots only shorts it is a model 12 b.

There are also a c and d and e versions......Great little guns from the same person that made the Winchester model 12.
