I wouldn't worry much about the 50 post rule. There are people here with over 10,000 posts and I've yet to see 50 quality posts (from a single person or as a whole). But yeah, you're right about people piling on and then after they try to run you off by calling people trolls or neg repping so much that nobody wants anything to do with you, they think its funny. Kinda cute.
