    I almost killed a toilet once while lowering the hammer on a 1911. Embarassed...especially when I had to tell my wife. Sold the gun, told myself I would never own another 1911. Got training, listened to people with more experience, made sure I was comfortable with the gun. Now, because I always thought the 1911 platform was the best available (IMHO) the only handguns my wife and I own are a Colt Series 80 full size for me and a Colt Series 80 Commander for her. A mistake isn't the end of the world, it is a chance to learn.

    I left one in the center console of my suv for months because I forgot about it. Lucky for my there was anyone alone in there. Heck that made me feel like a fool.
