I wanted to do a side by side review of the LAPG Tactical Bail Out Gear Bag and the Winchester Range Bag sold by Wal-Mart

https://www.indianagunowners.com/fo...9/28/img6714a.jpg[/IMG] Uploaded with Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Both bags cost around the same price. The LAPG bag was 19.99 and the Wal-Mart Bag was $20.99. While I did have to pay shipping for the LAPG bag ($9.99 for USPS) I did not have any taxes nor did I have to drive to Wal-Mart. So I am comparing these as a straight cost of the items.

I had purchased the Winchester bag first and I was immediately disappointed with it.

The interior of the bag was basically one large area with two interior side pouches made out of nylon. It was sewn into the bag with a very low single thread count. It did have two gun mats and one outside pouch with no way to secure it closed.

As well the top is a double zipper with the flap closing with a Velcro seal. There is no sling or a shoulder carry and while the handles are heavy once again it is a single stitch, however it does have a higher stitch count.

As I do not have confidence in this bag to keep my gun secure in one location without movement or the ability to keep items organized I have relegated it to carry my ammo. This is not bad as I needed an ammo bag but I had bought it for a minimum of being a range bag with a combination mini bug out bag. Country of origin is China for this bag.

Second (only in showing of the bag) Is the LAPG Tactical Bail Out Bag.

Unlike the Winchester bag from Wal-Mart I was immediately impressed with this bag. It had the feel and look of quality.

The main interior compartment gives you a choice of one large area or has an interior divider which will split it up giving you one full size half compartment and the other side can also be a half size compartment or further breaks down and leaves you two quarter sized compartments.

It came with a variety of pouches in differing sizes to accept multiple applications. The pouches had a high stitch count and were double threaded every where.

The pouches also seem to be strategically placed for weight distribution of the items placed around the bag. As you can see here my collapsible baton fits nicely into the bottom pouch . While the pouch above hold bio wipes and water tabs.

There is a side pocket which is easily accessible and contains my gun and spare ammo. The end pouches also are distributed evenly and are large enough to hold Walkie Talkies.

The inside of the side pocket is lined with Velcro. I placed Velcro tape on the backside of my Pancake Holster and spare mag pouch so they are secure and do not move around. this also gives me a secure grip of my gun when I grasp it and I can move my holster to my waist. This saves space and cost.

When the side pocket is closed it become undetectable from people. I thought this feature to be one of it's best as I didn't even know it was there for a few hours.

The handles wrap completely around the bag and once again were double stitched with a high stitch count and the material is heavy. I like the fact that it wraps all the way around as this alleviates the bag straps from being pulled on it's walls.

It also comes with a very sturdy and completely adjustable sling strap. It is also padded and the pad is Velcro adjustable.

As I have said I like the bag and I am impressed with both the sturdy construction and the heavy canvas material. This bag fits both my requirements as a Range Bag and mini Bug out Bag and if I had done my due diligence and researched better first I would have two of these bags and not a less inferior Winchester bag

Country of origin for the LAPG Tactical Bag is Vietnam.

Great review. I love my LAPG jumbo bail out bag. Like you, I didn't know those side pockets were there for a few hours.

I might have to check into one of the LAPG bags. I do have the Winchester bag and agree, it wouldn't make a good bail out bag.

But I will say that it does make a decent range bag / ammo bag through. I've used mine quite a bit and was impressed with the capacity. I am able to put a lot of ammo in there, to the point that carrying it very far is almost no fun due to the weight. My only beef is the lack of shoulder strap.

I looked at the Wal-mart bag and a guy at wal-mart told me he has bought 2 and thrown 2 away because of the lack of quality.
