I agree it is seven. Half of 7 is 3.5 + a half is 4. That means after the 1st girl you have 3 apples. Half of 3 is 1.5 + a half apple is 2. That means after 2nd girl there is 1 apple left. Half of 1 is a half + a half is 1. So then you would have no apples left.
