What a letdown disappointing new post to the thread :)

Just want to follow the post to see what the ATTY's say.
Some of you have been very quick to defend the truck guy based on the video but jedi is not sure he is fully in the right. The video however is lacking more info and jedi was not there so unsure.

    1) looks like the demonstrator were walking across that street under the highway and the 2 gun dudes were their escort to ensure no one runs them over.

    2) so the truck stops after seeing the 2 gun dudes but then decides to backtrack and go around them. Why? Demonstrators are still crossing and truck dude wants to continue towards them, into danger???

Why not back away slowly and go another route?
Truck dude is outnumbered does he think he will win this fight?

    3) yes demonstrators should NOT be blocking the road like that without some type of police escort if they are on a planned/approved walk. With that said they had no police as has been reported cause the police (ground troopers) are being told to ignore this so it gets us to who has MORE firepower. In this case not the truck dude so let that group with MORE firepower pass or meet your end.

Law and order is out the window now. If you want to drive in a major city and "have your way" then bring your own firepower and lots of it so that others will stand down.
It sounds gangster/thuggish/not right but that appears the way things are going now in the USA
It's not a new thing, well for america it is, but it's been around his mankind.

The one with the most "might" (biggest sword, biggest army, biggest tank) is the one that dictates who is going down that street first.

Sad that it has come to american now.

I am not familiar with there contract.
Our Union has a no strike clause, therefore tying our hands until our contract expires.
I know an entire Dept. Can't arrest someone, but the entire Dept might be able to ignore the stand down order. Power comes with Solidarity.

I'm certain they can't strike, but if they organize and all call in sick, there's not too terribly much the department is going to be able to do about it.

It's not like everyone is trying to go out and become a cop.

We've already seen this happen in GA. Has been threatened in MN.

Not sure but I think if they all got the blue flu then it puts the bad press on the officers.

If they ignore orders and go out and do there jobs, and supervision tries to punish them all, then it puts the bad press on supervision and higher. I know that people should already be aware of how ****ty the mayor and supervision has handled it.

Not sure if it's even possible, they are in a tough spot.

I'd rather have bad press than be laying the foundation to end my career.

I dunno how the officers feel about it.

Alright 1st off has anyone reported this “citizen response” for being an unlicensed security service? I can’t seem to find them in the professional licensing but I could be wrong. I’m not a lawyer but they seem to be providing security services.

2nd. Any union that “can’t” strike isn’t really a union. The union organizers in the early 1900’s never asked for permission when they fought the coal mine owners in literal battles or when the steel mill workers fought the Pinkertons off with a cannon.

anyway I’m done with my rant. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Yeah it's definitely not ideal, but once it's in then good luck getting rid of it.

real unions are a great thing. If impd had a real union they would strike for managements support in doing their jobs. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be a real union if the “can’t” strike.

Real unions are the only hope a worker has of being treated fairly.

make no mistake about it. Your either a worker or An owner, be careful you support your own class and don’t get tricked into supporting the one you don’t belong to based on a “unionz are bad” argument.

Just to be clear, I have no idea if they can strike or not. I said the union I'm part of can't strike if we are under contract.

We are contractually forbidden to strike. The FOP is not a Union, it doesn't function like one either. The FOP speaks for us when our collective voice needs heard. Our Lodge 86 uses the best litigators in the State for our legal representation. But unlike the UFCW or the UAW, it has nothing to do with hiring or firing of officers. Only the Civilian Merit Board can do that.

It's typical of these punks. When the heat gets turned up and they are exposed they fold.

No doubt. Not sure how legit this is, but on FB I saw somebody post that her husband was stopped by one of these armed asshats. "They tried to stop him and pointed their guns at his tires. In return, he pointed at the gun on his dash, pointed at them and they stepped aside and let him through."

Guess that guy wasnt very committed to his cause, huh?

That seems to be the case across the country anyway.

Being up in the NW corner of the state all my TV and radio comes from Chicago and I am really unaware of what is going on downstate from here. Can I get cliff notes about what has been transpiring in Indy? Are there no police due to mayoral orders at these protests? Were there no police to see these armed protesters or did they ignore them?

Video and photos of two antifa thugs roaming the streets, committing TWO forcible felonies against a motorist. And their identities are known.
But thank God we're getting the union rules nailed down.
