Rock, my Pointer-1st Hunt!

What an awesome time the last few days! Rock (RockPoint Elhew Rock) is my Elhew English Pointer. And Friday we started him out with the training pistol on quail. Within 2 hours, he had the full deal down. I also guided with him on Saturday.

Point, flush, shoot, and retrieve to my hand!

Nice pics. How long have you been training Rock?

We've been training Rock for over a year. He is almost 1-1/2 yrs old and I have not been quick to shoot over him. He has been along on all the hunts I guided so he has been on lots of birds. He shares the kennel with 2 of my GWP's (German Wirehaired Pointers). Basically, I have let him be a pup and strongly believe in "socializing" him. He is the son of the my late great English Pointer "Cotton." For those familiar with the Elhew line, Rock comes with Elhew Snakefoot and Elhew Damascus in his pedigree.
