Ok you INGO vampires, time to settle another argument . When asked my opinion on the top 3 live albums of all time I picked in this order-(#1) Kiss alive (#2) Cheap Trick live at Budokan(#3) Jonny Cash Folsom Prison. Am I wrong? And if so, what's your top 3?

Yes. There are several I'd put before those.

Here's just off the top of my head:

    1. Alice in Chains: Unplugged
    2. Nirvana: Unplugged
    3. Metallica: Live ****-Binge & Purge
    Pink Floyd: Pulse
    Eagles: Hell Freezes Over
    Grateful Dead: Europe '72
    Peter Frampton: Frampton Comes Alive!

Could not narrow it to 3. I think i see that you are talking recorded concerts maybe cut down a few songs. So here is a top 5

5: Led Zep: The song remains the same (Movie also) or bbc sessions Tie,
4: The Allmans Brothers : at the filmore east.
3: the who: live at leeds.
2: neil Young : Live rust.
1: Peter Frampton: Frampton comes alive.

I love live recordings, A snapshot in time. Led zep live preformances great stuff. The bow used with electric guitar, the awsome drums. The Allmans started the huge southern rock sound with multi lead guitars and multiple drummers. The who smashing and trashing the stage. Neil young with the best one note guitar solo's . And how could forget 'Show me the way" .

Now there is some live stuff with multi bands that are ground breaking live. Woodstock the sound of a generation. The bands the last waltz. George harrison Concert for bangladesh started the whole benefit concert trend.. I could see an arguement here for those three as ground breaking.

And there are combo albums. With some tracks live and others studio. Creams Wheels of fire. Jackson browns running on empty (Where stuff goes from studio to live in concert in the same song. ) Frank zappa's Weasels ripped my flesh. I could see these getting looked over but the Live parts are so good and they are better than they could have been in a studio.

PS I have all of your list also and just listened to Live at budakan lately.

Alice in Chains is my all time favorite band, but just couldn't put them on the list, but I fought back and forth with Frampton Comes Alive, I believe as far as sales goes , it's the top selling live album ever.

    Iron Maiden: Live After Death

Best fake live album..........Type O Negative "Origin of the Feces". "Unsuccessfully Coping" ;)

Not really a fan of live albums, but do enjoy the silly and simple one from Henry Rollins "The Only Way to Know for Sure". Makes me want to break things :)

Hard to say for sure without having heard every live album made. That being said I'd go with...

    KISS Alive
    Scorpions World Wide Live
    Iron Maiden Live After Death

While there are some great albums listed, all of you are horribly wrong :D. The greatest live albums of all time are:

    1. Bruce Springsteen: Live 1975-1985

    2. The Band: The Last Waltz

    3. Little Feat: Waiting For Columbus

I can't answer you question cause there are too many!!......however i give you +1 for the AIC comment......AWESOME band....when Layne was still there.

Alice in Chains rep for both of you.

The harmonizing @ 3:40 stills gives me chills!!

Was just going thru some albums( yes kids, those round black disks) and found a 1983 Thin Lizzy live album called Life. Although it isn't in my top 5 still is a hell of a album from one of the best bands of the 70's. if ya get the chance buy it, we'll worth the money!
