That is not a 'scope mount! It's only a rail used to hold the receiver in a jig when machining it.

Luckily for the foreheads of most of us, I didn't describe it as such. It is indeed a rail though, and the overwhelming majority were 8mm wide. If you've the wider one in your hands, note its size.

Rings can also be modified to fit securely as more than a few have successfully accomplished. As for those dim enough to modify their rings to be off center, it isn't likely they'll ever be called upon to do something important enough to discover the problem.

My lone Romanian M1969 goes sans optic, as the factory irons are actually not bad.
