    Agreed.

There are fools everywhere to this day.

Of the criticisms of RP I recall, none of them had to do with his stance on fiscal policy; they all (me included) thought his ideas on foreign policy sucked badly - in the sense that they were pie-in-the-sky unrealistic. Glad to see he's having some influence on the fiscal policy planks of the Republicans.

The thing is, without getting the fiscal reforms he champions, we will not long be able to maintain the foreign policy everyone feared he would so radically change.

We already have the big stick...RP wanted to truly walk softly with it (but keep it for when it is needed). It seems that most who disagree with his foreign policy simply want to keep it waving above our heads.

Edit: All that notwithstanding, many people in the GOP who considered him a kook (and likely still do) did cite his "crazy" economic theories. The oft-repeated adjective "Quixotic" was originally (and most often thereafter) used when describing his disdain for the Federal Reserve and his desire to end it or, barring that, get it audited. Economic crank also comes to mind.

O.k. now I'm getting confused; I thought Dan Quayle was the fount of all wisdom?!! He invented the internet!!!!:dunno:

No, Quayle simply misspelled a word. Gore invented the internet. He also invented Global Warming, or at least has profited handsomely by perpetuating the myth.

The gold standard would not eliminate fractional reserve banking and wouldn't help us out of our current situation.
