I'm considering purchasing a Rossi 92 (44 Mag), but was discouraged by a friend from doing so as he stated that the Rossi's aren't drilled/tapped for a scope. Yesterday, I was reading on a forum and someone was saying that under the rear sight there's four holes for the below scope mount:

80097 - Scope Mount Base Kit Fits Rossi Long Barrel Guns

The forum post was a couple years ago, so I was curious if anyone can confirm that Rossi 92's are still drilled & tapped to accept a scope mount?

Also, I wanted to put a peep on it to replace the safety, and it appears as though StevesGunz offers these...

Adjustable Bolt-Mounted Peep Sight Safety Replacement Adjustable Bolt-Mounted Peep Sight Safety Replacement [] - $59.95 : Steve's Gunz Web Store, The Home of the Rossi 92 Specialist

All in all, I guess I'm just curious if anyone has any experience with putting both a peep and a Scope on a Rossi 92, who might have a success story to share...

P.S. I'd also considered a B-Square mount and a Skinner Barrel Mount Peep Sight.

    Thanks in advance!

I've found a couple different posts from last year that mention those holes. I haven't taken the rear sight off of mine and I'm too lazy to do it right now to check. I actually hadn't heard about this before but one of the threads I found says to call Rossi Customer Service @ 305-474-0401-1 and ask for this one P892. The P801 on CTD doesn't have a taper which causes issues fitting.

If you didn't want to call Rossi, here is the Amazon link [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Rossi-Braztech-Piece-Base-Blue/dp/B0035M1FAY]Amazon.com: Rossi/Braztech 1 Piece Base Blue M92 P892: Sports & Outdoors[/ame].

This is not a rossi but I believe it is the same type setup rossi offers. Scout scope adapter. If you want to try out the scout scope concept and can get up to madison county IN you can put a few tubes downrange with mine. Scout scopes are not for everyone. You shoot it with both eyes open and the crosshairs are kinda floating around. I also have a skinner low pro ghost ring for backup irons.

NC star makes a cheap scout scope that I have setup like mine and seem to handle 44 mag well. The leopold scope I have is a little expensive. burris makes one also.

The concept of these rifles are called brookland scouts. It is my still hunting setup but I also crawl up the trees with it. I almost did some combat training with it as mine makes a nice CQC weapon. The class was for ar/ak rifles and they would not let me play.

Don't know about the later Rossis or the Chiappa, Miroku, etc. repros, but my two pre-Taurus Rossi M92s came with no provision for alternative sights at all. No factory d&t'ed holes on the receiver or under the rear sights. I had to have them d&t'ed to install receiver sights. Semi-pricey anymore at $20-25/per hole but makes them much easier for me to shoot them well with some consistancy.

I once saw an ad to the effect that "Scout Scope" mount equipped Rossi carbines were supposed to be coming, but never saw one in-person, so I don't know whether they ever actually materialized or not. Never really looked into trying to find one too hard, as a receiver sight works really well on my LAs for virtually all the things that I like to do with them.

There may well be some aftermarket options out there, although I do find it sort of tough to envision exactly how one would best go about securing such an item to an M92.
