    How's this compare to a Remington 700SPS Tactical .308? The price is a little more than half the Remington.....this will be a first bolt gun build. Budget for the entire rifle/stock/scope around 1500.

    Not in the same class, IMO, especially if you're wanting to do a "build". The Remington 700 is the 10/22 of centerfire bolt guns; you can pretty much build a complete firearm and never use a factory part.

    I put a 308 RAR in lay-a-way today at BGF. They are hard to find right how. I wanted one. I walked in. I found one. Fate does happen.

    I think this will make a great hunting rifle that is meant to be carried more than it'll be shot. Light weight, reasonably accurate and enough knockdown power for anything here in the States.
