If I'm right, Ruth bought the Chris Steakhouse, and "renamed" it Ruth's Chris... It's something close to that if not exactly that story. She has passed away now. Probably about 8-10 years ago.

    started as "Chris Steak House".

Ruth bough it, relocated it and per a contract agreement or something couldn't reuse the original name at a different address.

Don't know about the name but the food is awesome. If it is a special occasion be sure and let them know. I Think me and wife got Chocolate covered strawberries w/ a glass of champagne. But that was 10 years ago. Morton's kicks ass also.

I remember a commercial about their name from many years back. Ruth owns the steak house, but (the commercial said) the Chris was the sound the steaks made when they were put on the hot plates. Can't swear to the veracity of it, since it was a commercial, but that's what I heard.
