    May have mentioned it before, but back in the day I had a Mdl 59, then a 39, a 459 (2x4 handle with a slide), a 659, 5903 and 5906.
Then along came "GLOCK" and all are gone now but the 5906 I gave to my son.

The laser etch in the slide indicating Moulton as the location of manufacture is interesting.
I'd definitely get some Hogue grips for it if you intend to carry that little beauty.

After a call to the mothership found out its was made 12/2013 with product code 108186u. The m is actually an h so it was made in Houlton ME, which I have learned they moved the 3rd gen tooling to around 2014. It doesn't have the mag disconnect like my other 5946.

I find the hogue grips too bulky. I usually try to get the straight back grips for all my 3rd gens. I find they fit perfectly and make reaching the safety/decocker easier.

Picked up a nice 4516-1. Appears to have been fired very little; but will be adding to the round count this afternoon.

Thanks to "BW" for a smooth transaction. Always good to meet honest (and timely) people.

Looking good. Now that the adventure of my newer 5946 has played out I have backed off the ledge of buying more and more 3rd gens for right now.

Just got a new to me 6946 police trade in. Mostly got holster wear but barrel and over all great shape. New truck gun won't worry about if it gets dinged. So far I love it just got to get used to the DAO. 1485622503102.jpg

I purchased a S&W 5903 at the Crown Point gun show today. I have shot third generation smiths, but I could not shoot them very well, double action shots were more accurate for me. The one i picked up today came with a fat grip and feels really good in my hands. A trigger job may have been performed as well, because it is really nice. Plan on shooting it next weekend

I found complete disassembly videos on the S&W forum and did a full internal polish as described in the videos on my 4506-1. I think it smoothed it out but I could be wrong.
