Wow, I was just drooling over the 45 Recon - beautiful!
    The 40 is nice too.
I bet those are tough to let go, sometimes you just have to let them go to the next person to enjoy I guess.

I'm picking up a 4046 on Saturday if I can get up in time. I have already put it in layaway so it's reserved. Been looking for a Gen 3 40 Caliber and finally found one in good shape.
The place has a 6946 (I think that's the model number) that looks Iike it was tied to a rope and dragged behind it,but they also have a Model 59 that looks brand new,but I feel was over priced at $700. Getting the 4046 for $400. Not the best price I feel but it's in decent shape and not found in town very often. My last purchase was a Sig P224 in 40 caliber which I carry sometimes but usually still carry my P229 most of the time. Depends on where I'm going.
I did find some extra magazines for the 4046 for $28 brand new factory 11 round ones. I'll grab 2 or 3 of them. I usually have 3 mags per gun.

$400 is not bad at all. Most decent ones on gb go for $25 more minus the ship and transfer fees. What was the price on the 6946 if you remember?

$349 but it was in terrible shape. You can kind of see it in the picture I posted above
I edited the other picture of my gun I had and it shows the 6946. Has a lot of wear and probably shot to death.

Gander Outdoor had stacks of the 6946's right about the time they closed the Merryville store. Still remember walking into the place just before they closed and it looked like a ghost town, clearance signs everywhere and boxes clogging the aisles. Only time I ever went in there was to pick up a 6946 ordered off the website. Beautiful shape and $229 iirc. I think this latest lot of dogged out guns are LEO surps from Puerto Rico.

You're gonna like the 4046. One of the softest shooting .40s out there and the triggers are wonderful. Too heavy to want to carry one but they make spectacular house guns.

That's encouraging to hear. My 224 is a beast to shoot but my 229 isn't to bad. I don't plan to carry it. Just a few range trips and boxed up unless I need it and maintenance on it every now and then since I have other 40s to shoot.
I don't mind carrying a heavy gun. Less recoil to deal with.

    Yep definitely beat to heck.

Definitely is. I probably would of eventually got it after the 4046,but I got out of the 9mm game. I had a 5926 which a friend wanted since he has several Gen 3s in multiple calibers but didn't have the 5926. He has the 5906 though. It was his first carry gun when he was still a cop.

Went and got the 4046 Saturday. It's in pretty good condition.
I opened it up at home and it's barely been shot. I shot a few rounds in the basement crawl space where I test everything and it felt pretty good. Picked up 3 used magazines for $66 which will be here today. I was only looking for 2 but ebay deal and I won the auction on 3.
    Pretty happy with my purchase.

It appears time for you to do your first crawlspace pop! C'mon everybody does it.
I've been doing it with each gun I buy since ammo is in high demand and I just want to make sure everything works. Was surprised the 4046 was such a soft shooter compared to my P224. Really like it but won't carry it.

Im lucky I can go out my back door and fire some rounds if I want. After shooting my 4006 for the first time had the same experience with how little recoil there was.

    Same experience here.
Never had a 40 caliber before & the SW 4006 was the first, and I was surprised at how "normal" it was.
It was one I should have kept since it had the coveted (by me) adjustable rear sights.
I comfort myself with a CZ Rami that is all liquored up & a sweet shooting gun!

I picked up a used LEO surplus 6946 at Gander years back (Gander Mountain days). I'm 99% sure it was a Newark NJ trade in. Decent little gun.

Shooter grade 915 hit the classifieds, decent price for someone.

Good price for a 3rd gen.

My 5906 build has ran into another issue. The safety assembly doesn't have a detent and the right side safety lever is also a tad different. Though it did fix my cock and lock situation I had before.

Been a month but after going back to my 5906 build found out the safety assembly body I got from numrich or could of been midway usa is a spring loaded decocker only assembly. So unless I find a spring and some smith to do some work on the slide I'm still going to need a safety assembly. Otherwise all quiet on my front.

Seen the 1076 up for sale but I'm short on funds after getting pulled out of work for almost 2 weeks.
