I have an opportunity to pick up a 5946 for what seems like a reasonable price. I would guess this gun to be in the 80-85% range I haven't had much experience with Smiths's so... What is a reasonable amount to expect to pay? Are they worth buying? Any additional information would be appreciated. Thanks INGO!

Police trade in 5906's are $300-350. The 5946 is the DAO version? It should be similar I should think. I personally would love to find one as the trigger reach on the DAO version is slightly shorter thean the standard DA/SA version.

I certainly love my 5906. Haven't gotten to shoot a 5946. These are large, heavy handguns. If you are looking this as a carry gun you will want to get a quality holster that protects you from the gun. I have carried mine a few times in a galco and it ate me up after a few hours.

The last 5946 I saw was at Gander Mtn in Terre Haute. I see you are from Terre Haute. Same gun? IIRC the one at GM was priced around $360 or so and I passed, given its condition. I was close though.

The all stainless 3rd gen smiths are wonderful. Even if its a bit rough a lil mothers mage polish, very light sanding new grips and springs and violia a brand new gun. Get it! I paid 300 for my 5906 off gunbroker.

This will not be a carry gun. I have a couple others for that. The guy will probably take around $275ish. One mag included.
