S&W M&P Magazines, Interchangable?

As the title suggests I am wondering if the mags to the S&W M&P models are interchangable like the glock mags are. In other words will a M&P 9 (17rd) mag fit into the M&P9c? If so, do they also make a grip extension piece to fill in the difference?
