And suddenly, everyone who says 1911s dont hold enough ammo, wants one.

And ... frankly, I think SHIELD is a dumb name for a gun. JMHO.

Yeah, that's a great looking gun. I wonder what shop will have it first. I would like to try it in .40, though.

S&W M&P Shield Released and reviewed!

Well, the long awaited S&W M&P Shield was released this morning. Apparently it has already been tested by some media/gun writers through non-disclosure agreements. And the best part, a redesigned TRIGGER! Hopefully taking care of the shortcomings of the full size m&p line. It seems impressively small, less than 1" thick! I just may have to get one, available now for $449!

Here's a few review and videos:

I'm very interested to see how the size stacks up against the Kahr MP9. I don't like carrying smaller than 9mm when possible, usually carrying the M&P 9c these days. However, if all I get is 6+1, I'd prefer pocket carry the Kahr PM9 unless the sizes are comparable.

    edit: just saw 7+1. hmmm

Slightly smaller than my SR9c... but not enough to make switch. Plus my Ruger carries an extra 3 rounds just in case.

    Nice looking gun tho

I EDC a full size M&P9 (18rds) so making the transition to one of these would be tough,

HOWEVER, If I were looking for a slim profiled easily concealable firearm, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

(.......Now I start coming up with reasons why I should buy this because I really want it... Thanks S&W) :nailbite:

Yeager is a much more likeable guy when he's got someone to talk to - also Caleb has his thoughts on his own site up as well: Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm review | Gun Nuts Media

Very awesome that S&W is making their trigger better, and overall looks like a great package.

I'd love to see this compared with the Walther PPS and the Kahr PM9 - seems like it's up to par, and at a lower price point in the performance single stack category (rather than the pocket 9 category - LC9, Nano, etc).

A 1911 is a BIG gun to carry and heavy for as few of rounds as it holds. This holds as many in a tiny package. Hardly an even comparison. This WILL be my new summer shorts deep concealed option for the summer. I have been looking for a better option than my BodyGuard 380.
