    Hey all,

    I Have a 22" Saiga 12.

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost to have the barrel cut down to 18", and internally threaded for Rem Chokes. Also does anyone know an Indiana gun smith that would do a job like this, since it's not a traditional hunting rifle, and it has a chrome lined bore?

    Thanks

I thought this might be an obscure subject, but it would definitely be a sweet, yet functional modification if someone could do it.

I'm not sure about the cutting down but I have one that I bought in '02 that I had threaded for Remington Chokes.

At the time I had Gander Mountain do it (they ship it off to their main shop). They charged me $70 plus it came with a choke.

It'd cost more than usual as you'd have to press the barrel off, cut it, port it, thread it and then press it back on.

    Thanks for the link.

Those prices seem pretty good, plus I'll have a Poly Choke II to sell, which will make it an even easier pill to swallow.

Does anyone have any experience with Alliance Arms, seems like I’ve heard their name, on the Saiga forum.

look on the saiga forum "wall of shame" and you'll find them. I honestly haven't had any issues with any of their drums, but i hear their conversions suck.

Thanks Vitamink, they make the wraithmaker don't they?

As for the gas system, I've already fought that battle, and ended up sending my gun to Cadiz Gun Works for warranty work, my gun runs like a raped ape now, and throws empty hulls with authority; I think it could stand to lose 4 inches of barrel.
